How to get there:

There are two routes you can take to reach Liwa, but the drive starts on the E11 (Sheik Zayed Road) via Abu Dhabi. You should follow the signs to Madinat Zayed.

Hatta

A natural paradise. The beautiful mountain cliffs, scattered water springs and endless valleys offer a huge contrast to the glassy facades of the city. You can hike up the Al Hajar Mountains or take a kayak out on the lake. Get ready to enjoy some breathtaking views.

How to get there:

From Dubai, it is around 96km to Hatta. The most direct route is to take the E44 from Dubai, across the border and straight up to Hatta. If you prefer a more circular route that doesn’t cross over the border of Oman, you can use the E102, turning off onto the 42 before you reach Munay.

Jabal Al Jais

Jabal Al Jais is known as UAE’s tallest mountain peak. Taking you through the curves of the beautiful landscape, reaching a huge height of 1,900 meters, a 4 wheel drive is suggested for this route, however it isn’t a must. Expect lots of uphill areas. How to get there:

The easiest way to get there is to take Emirates Road (E611) to Ras Al Khaimah, then ask the locals for directions, because there are no signposts to the mountain.

You should start from Sheikh Zayed Road and pass the sandy trail roads of Ras Al Khaimah. The best road to reach this place is the E11 or E311 via Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain – make sure to follow the signs displaying Shams as you reach Ras Al Khaimah.
