Learn more about Al Khail Road, aka E44

Al Khail Road is a popular highway you’ll no doubt be using while driving in Dubai. It runs almost parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road, currently has no Salik gates (Dubai’s road toll system) and is known as E44. Al Khail Road is also known as Ras Al Khor Road, Al Aweer Road and Dubai-Hatta Highway - depending on the location. What makes Al Khail Road interesting is that it is one of the main highways that connects Dubai city to Hatta, which is close to the border with Oman. Al Khail means ‘horse’ in Arabic which is fitting given the local love for horses and the connection to stables and horse racing tracks in Meydan and elsewhere. Al Khail Road is popular not just because of its critical connections across Dubai, but since there are no Salik gates, it makes driving a little bit more affordable. But even if Salik is introduced, the road would be no less popular as it is the conduit to many areas like Dubai Silicon Oasis, Nad Al Sheba and Meydan, Dubai Hills and JVC and even Dragon Mart! The road is another example of excellent road infrastructure that is well maintained by the Dubai authorities for everyone’s convenience and safety. Shout out to E44!
